Fireworks were cancelled again this year, but thankfully another laser light show was planned at Mt Baker Farm. We didn’t hear about it last year until it was too late, so this year I didn’t want to miss out on the only community fesitvities for the big night.
Oh my golly!! Was it ever a return to normalcy – people gathering, dancing, hanging out all evening together, laughing and singing, and having a ball in the way that Orcasfolk always did pre-COVID. If anyone ever needed to fill their empty congregating tank to overflowing, it was the night!
It was the healthiest, happiest, most dauntingly satisfying jolt to the human-needy system that there has been around here since March of 2020. Considering the ghost town that Eastsound was last 4th of July, this was downright giddy-feeling.
