Island Icicles

Today we awakened to a clear, endless blue sky. The sun was out all day, so we were too. We haven’t had that much solar exposure for months on Orcas, so we don’t take even an hour of it for granted.

We don’t get a lot of snow here either, but we do get icicles! Huge icicles. Fresh water slowly seeps through the rocks overhanging the ocean at Eastsound Beach, and at low tide you can climb out to the big stalactites. Icicles by day, Winter Olympics by night.
