A Friday Harbor Morning

Every now and then, life takes us either to the mainland or Friday Harbor for various types of appointments. Today life took me to San Juan Island. A five-hour roundtrip for a 10-minute appointment is normal in these parts – an hour on the ferry, several hours waiting for the next one, and an hour again on the returning ferry.

I love to walk, so I went on walkabout taking photos and soaking in what Friday Harbor felt like this morning.

Taking the ferry to another island, while normal for people around here, is a totally unique and beautiful experience. For those of you who don’t do this kind of thing in everyday life, this pictorial post is especially for you.

Enjoy…

  1. Beautiful! I see another book in your future!

  2. For someone whose heart has recently found these islands, your pictures (and this blog) are such a delight. I am savoring every bit. Many thanks from Iowa.

  3. These are so good! You already know ‘m a fan……I think you should show them to the San Juan Island Chamber of Commerce – I bet they could use some of them. For some reason, I’m not able to view all of them, but I saw enough to be impressed. As a frequent “other Island” traveller, I feel you really captured the mood of San Juan
