Gargantuan Icicles

Water is always flowing here in the winter. In certain places, you’re only aware of it once it freezes. The high tide has given these a haircut…

After taking these, my iPod shut off. It got too cold. Five minutes later, the most beautiful golden sunshine peeked through the clouds at the horizon and covered Eastsound and Indian Island in shimmering light for about 15 dazzling minutes. The snow on the beach, in town, and all over the trees sparkled in the warm light. The icicles glistened with ethereal beauty. My son reminded me it’s better in the memory than in a picture.
