Physical Calligraphy

Out of respect for Anthony the Dancer, who choreographs the Island Inspiration All-Stars, I will not show you snippets of what happened tonight at Orcas Center. He prefers that audience members refrain from taking photos.

It was fantastic. As usual.

What especially stood out to me were the songs sung by Sanjaya Malakar and the performances by Aristotle Luna. Sanjaya’s singing was fabulous and Aristotle’s control of his body, especially in some slow-motion acrobatics, was fascinating.

Little did I know, until looking for some videos of the two of them, that Sanjaya was an American Idol star. While there are dozens of dated YouTube videos of him, tonight’s performance was the best that I saw – he is a solid singer, and very comfortable having a crowd watch him.

Aristotle is apparently a very hard worker. He impresses me, though you ought to see him in person too. For a visual of what these dancers are able to do, go to their website and click on the video.

Hailey Averna, you were practicing for Mamma Mia! and Physical Calligraphy all along? I’m inspired!

And Stephanie, effortless one-handed cartwheel. I noticed that after remarking the other day to you that I don’t think I can still do a two-handed cartwheel. You’re crankin’ the mom dancer thing! As are all of you moms!!

Great job, all of you..

Anthony, is there somewhere online where we can watch the video?
