Art Tour – Barbara Gourley’s Oil Paintings

Barbara’s studio was a new stop for us this time around. In fact, I chose to stop there based on the tiny picture next to her name in the tour brochure. When there are 34 studios, you have to figure some way to whittle it down. Her art studio, connected to the side of her home, doubles as a guest house – warm and bright with high ceilings and lots of light even in the forest. My favorite painting, by far, is the one just below. She does this a lot these days, as we saw in her photo album – keeps the canvas mostly white with few details except for the main focus of the painting, which is captured very realistically. She does some of these on commission. What a genuinely nice, positive lady! To contact her, email b.gourley@me.com.

  1. One of the most intellectual and hardest working artists that I’ve had pleasure of working with.

  2. One of the best on the island!!
