We don’t have a human mayor here on Orcas Island. It can be a dog, a cat, a whale, a donkey, just about anything. Our current mayor is Tinker, a rabbit. (Lucky us, he’s our neighbor.)
Soon, we islanders will choose a new honorary mayor by voting with our dollars, which supports Orcas Island Children’s House. There are stores all over the island with little voting “booths.”

Tinker has really enjoyed his term as Mayor. He hopes to see everyone over the 4th of July celebrations …but not during fireworks. He and his two little rescue sidekicks will be secured away from the noice with their favorite music playing loud enough to mask the noise. Thank you for article Edee!
