Orcas Youth Conservation Corps Needs a Leader ASAP

Summer is here and many kids have applied and been accepted to the Orcas Youth Conservation Corps, which begins June 20th and lasts until August 19th. Due to health issues, one of the Orcas Island leaders had to bow out and the folks at YCC are quickly looking for a qualified replacement. If you know of anyone, please let them know. Here is more information:

Parents/Guardians of the 2023 Orcas YCC Crew,

My name is Julie Curtis and I am the YCC Co-Coordinator, along with Mike Rosekrans. The YCC summer season is quickly approaching, and unfortunately this email is to ask for help in keeping our program going as scheduled.

A few days ago, one of our planned Orcas YCC crew leaders informed us that they are no longer able to join us this summer, due to unforeseen health issues. Mike and I, along with Paul (SJICD District Manager), have been putting all our energy into finding a replacement. We have been posting on social media, reaching out to community partners, and now are asking for your help.

If you have anyone in your network, or you yourself are interested in joining for all (or part of) the summer season, please let me know as soon as possible. The first day of work will be June 20th and will run through August 19th. Here is the full job description.

This is a great leadership opportunity and we are hopeful we will find someone to fill the role. Unfortunately, if we cannot, we will not be able to operate the YCC program on Orcas this summer. I will keep you all updated as we find out more information and are able to move forward with hiring.

Thank you in advance!
