My Mom’s First Official Book Review

My mom rents the bottom floor of a house that hovers over the ocean about a 5-minute walk from our house and she spends her days overlooking paradise, keeping up with the news, and reading gobs of books. She’s in the library’s monthly book club, so she passes the good ones on to me – books like The Underground Railroad, Behind the Beautiful Forevers, and The Secret Scripture.

She’s been reading this one book for what seems like an eternity. The other day when she finished it I said, “Mom, if I were to judge the book by its cover, I would never want to read it. I wouldn’t read it based on its title either. Is it any good?”

So here is my mom’s first official book review:

“Well, it’s really well written; but it’s like, what’s the point?!”

(Makes me laugh every time I read it!)

  1. Very funny your Mom! I will look into all these titles. Shipping News was hard to read as well.

  2. That’s your Mom! Just want you to know how much I enjoy your blog. It brings back happy memories of our stay on the island and our visit with you and your dear family. Keep up the good work. You’re the best!

    • Thank you so much, Faye!! I appreciate you for reading it! Thanks for being such a good friend to my Momma!
