This One’s for You, Deer Harbor Charters!

I recently had a realization… It dawned on me a few weeks after I wrote the previous post that there are only two main whale watching companies on Orcas Island. To have written about only one of two feels extremely lopsided!

Please know that while I haven’t taken a day trip with Deer Harbor Charters, I meant no favoritism toward the other company. I just happened to go in their door one day while out on a walk in town.

You’ll see Deer Harbor Charters’ kiosk out in front of Brown Bear Baking in the heart of Eastsound…

Make sure to check out this family-owned and operated business that has been dedicated to responsible wildlife viewing since 1988. As I am often attending community events, I recall seeing various local performances and SeaDoc Society films and lectures sponsored by Deer Harbor Charters, so I know that they like to give back to their community.

Happy whale watching with whichever company you happen to choose!

One Comment:

  1. Nate and his on board naturalist are the best. He knows where the whales are!
Saw a superpod when with them, 3 pods meeting, the 4 babies playing and adults greeting each other enthusiastically…It is a memory imprinted on my brain.

I’ve been out with both watching companies; Mate
    is by far the best.
