The Chosen

Not ready for Christmas to end? It doesn’t have to!

We just found out about a series called The Chosen, and it’s one of the best portrayals we’ve seen of Jesus’ life. It’s not stiff and rigid. It’s not corny and cheesy. It’s not heavy and dour. It’s totally human. It’s warm. It’s engaging. It’s funny. It’s heart-pulling. It beautifully melds the people and stories with acting that feels real, and brings the words on the pages to life in a way that helps me imagine the events in such a more natural way than I ever have before.

It’s a crowdfunded series, and the filmmakers are in the middle of producing Season Two. Our family has decided that the seasons should go on and on, telling as many stories as possible from Genesis to Revelation. It sure would help people feel the humanity of the bible.

You can watch the first season of eight episodes on YouTube – each is about an hour – and there are announcements on the front end and extras on the back end of each episode that you can bypass. You can also get versions that omit the announcements and extras completely by using the VidAngel app to play the shows.

Here you go. Make sure to keep going, as they get better and better. I just love episodes 3, 4, 5, and 6. That’s as far as we’ve watched. With rain in the forecast tomorrow, I can guess that episode 7 is in our near future. Enjoy…
