What I Do

I graduated with honors from UC Santa Barbara in 1996 with a BA in Cultural Anthropology. After traveling and photographing in South America and Africa, I returned to Santa Barbara and freelanced for almost every local newspaper and magazine while working as a research editor at Islands Media (Islands magazine and Spa magazine). After assisting a professional product photographer and two professional wedding photographers, I began my own wedding photography business in 2002. We moved to Orcas Island, Washington, in 2012 and I put photography aside in order to be completely present for our children. In 2018, I started this blog and began taking on a limited number of photography jobs. In March of 2022, I self-published Life on Orcas Island, the book. In 2023, I helped a good friend self-publish two books of his stories and accompanying paintings called Yarns and Christmas Yarns. All three books are on the Top 10 list of sellers at our local bookstore, Darvill’s. I am also an elementary and middle school math tutor.

I have photographed people, events, products, and locations extensively, and photography continues to be my passion wherever I am and whatever I’m doing. If you are looking for a portrait or wedding photographer, contact me at the email below.

PRICING

$200 per session for senior portraits (click here to see some samples)
$250 per hour for family or professional portraits (click here to see some samples)
$500 per hour or $4,000 per day for wedding photography (see samples below), plus travel costs for destination weddings (flight, transportation, and hotel room)

Email me at edeekulper@gmail.com to let me know your photography needs. If you have a wedding, I will email you a contract, have you mail a deposit of half of the total amount, and ask you to note any wedding guests you want to make me especially aware of for photographs, such as great-grandparents, relatives visiting from abroad, etc. The remainder of the amount is due on or before the wedding day. You will receive all photos in order to use and reproduce as you wish without having to pay me as a middleman for anything. (I do not make reprints, enlargements, or albums.) I will supply them to you on a tangible, hold-in-your-hand flash drive or immediately through the aether via an online transfer service ~ whichever you prefer.
