Our Youth Group’s Manger Scene

I just love this.

I gave each child in my youth group a ball of clay, a manger scene figurine to mimic if needed, and 20 minutes to sculpt. That’s a really short time to make art, but that’s what we had.

The next week, I gave each child paintbrushes, 5 colors of paint, and 20 minutes to decorate the figure they had sculpted the week before. Some kids weren’t there, so their figurines remain white.

The result is so dang cute. I’m so impressed by what they were able to make in one speedround of sculpting and one speedround of painting. The manger scene figurines they created give me absolute joy.

For some reason, this just makes me giddy! Probably because, like the kids in my youth group, I too am 10 years old at heart. May the little things in life make you giddy this Christmas season!

Any and all kids are welcome to our youth groups, called Pioneer Clubs, which meet at the Community Church every Monday night from 5:30-7:00 PM. There are three different clubs based on grade – K and 1st, 2nd and 3rd, and 4th and 5th. The first 20-30 minutes of the night is a dinner the church provides for all of the kids and leaders. Then we have three 20-minute sessions that shoot by like a whirlwind – bible, games, and craft time. I just love it all. (Many of our kids aren’t affiliated with any church, so feel free to come.)
