The Annual Santa Ship

Here, Santa comes by boat. Early.

Weekend before last, Santa arrived at the Deer Harbor dock to a hoard of happy onlookers of all ages. He parted through the sea of people, Ho-Ho-Ho-ing his way to the island fire truck, which deposited him at the door of the Deer Harbor Community Club.

We are so fortunate here to have so many generous people. Thanks to all the men and women who planned the event, there was a never-ending table of toys and gifts each child chose from after sitting on Santa’s lap.

There were plates of beautiful cookies to munch on while standing in line to meet him, none of which looked easy to make or store-bought.

Thank you all who contributed time, money, gifts, baking prowess, and love. And thank you, Santa, for being one of the nicest I’ve ever met!
