Laughter to End Your Year

After watching Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen throw back a couple shots in a near-empty Times Square with constant references to Planet Fitness, then some guy named Pitbull rap around with four girls in red spandex tonight, I got to thinking, ‘Wow, this is the weirdest end to the weirdest year ever.’

We turned off the TV and I took the dog out. We had it on to feel like we were around other people for New Years Eve. Celebratory, ya know. Instead, it was just plain odd. Outside, the air was clean and crisp. A flock of geese flew over me in the darkness, close enough that I could hear all of their big wings flapping above. A light rain was starting, and the feeling was so different. So much more depth-filled and dignified.

When I came back in, my husband decided to give entertainment one last try in our attempt to end 2020 with lightheartedness. He made a good choice. Tim Hawkins. We just finished laughing nonstop for over an hour. Restoration of depth and dignity? Well, perhaps just some plain old hilarity.

I’ve posted him once before and here he is again – this time, in a one-hour show. If you only have a few minutes before hitting the hay, watch the final clip of the show below this one, which makes us laugh every time we watch it

Happy New Year! May the future hold beautiful, human-filled, laughterful, gather-happy change for all of us.
