Seniors Have Talent

One of the wonderful things about Orcas Island is its talent shows. I just love them – A Whale of a Show, Orcas Has Talent, and Seniors Have Talent. Competitions they are not; celebrations they are – people blossoming into the things that give them joy as the rest of us support their courage. Thank you, Didier Gincig, for making sure anyone and everyone has a platform throughout the year to sing, play, recite, laugh, and enjoy one another.

Here’s a brief look at most of the performers at Seniors Have Talent this past Sunday at the Senior Center. The battery light on the aging camera I grabbed before running out the door was blinking red the whole time, so I was never quite sure when it would turn off on me. Therefore, the short videos are more of a disservice to the wonderful people in them, but at least you get sound bytes of a taste of it.

Don’t miss the Kids’ Variety Show coming up on April 20th at 6:30 at Orcas Center, again thanks to Didier’s commitment to community joy. There are a few spaces left, so encourage some young person to go for it!

  1. What a sweet event it was! No separation between the audience and the performers! Loved it!
