The next time you have an extra half-hour or so while awaiting your ferry back to Orcas Island, check this place out!
It’s an overlook right in Anacortes that is pretty darn stunning, and it takes no time at all to get to. Just drive down Commercial Ave in Anacortes past Safeway, take a right on 4th St, go several blocks, and then follow signs to the overlook that’s right up the hill.
In all these years, I had never been there before until a recent school field trip. We had an extra 45 minutes, so we drove to the overlook and released the kids to the beautiful, windy, wild!
I can’t wait to go there on a sunny, windless spring day…
Thank you for the great idea – we discovered the nature trail a couple of years ago and now we spend out time walking that while waiting for the ferry. That is also so beautiful.
