I had no idea this free event was happening in past years, and it turns out this past Saturday was its 5th year. There were so many festivities this past weekend, I had to decide whether to hit them all for a short time each or pick a few. In the past, I’ve done the former so as not to miss out on anything. This year, I chose the latter. In fact, I barely made it out of the Moran event, I had so much fun being in a state of crafting flow!
This is now one of my Christmas season favorites! It was so Orcas – at least pre-COVID Orcas. In the last few years, Orcas has been getting a little more pricey and shi-shi by the day. So many places and events have become expensive (I’m not insulting – I’m in one of them this weekend – but it’s true). Not this! This was all about digging in and getting creative around others doing the same thing. It was so wonderful for people who love to have something active to do – no buying, selling, or consumerism. Nothing fancy. No shmoozing by a fire with expensive lattes. Just plain creative fun among other islanders thanks to Park Ranger Bill Hoppe, who is excited about putting this on each year, and Friends of Moran and Washington State Parks for helping out.
Here’s a look at what it was like…
Next year when you see a flyer about this, go!
