The Choral Society always creates an event that ushers the island into the warmth and joy of the Christmas season. This time, Tiffany Loney choreographed dance to accompany the singing by Orcas Dance Collective.
The first half of the program, called Midnight Mass for Christmas, was written by French Baroque composer Marc-Antoine Charpentier in 1694, which is based on French carols from the Middle Ages. The second half of the program was a mix of various carols, ending with a French arrangement of “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.” The choir silently left the stage to “Stille Nacht” by Mannheim Steamroller, a contemplative, soul-stirring rendition of “Silent Night.” (At home, we like to turn off the lights, sit by the twinkling tree on Christmas Eve, and listen quietly to this song while enjoying the stillness.)
And of course, any performance led by Bruce Langford is guaranteed to be both amusing and well done!
