Almost 20 years ago when we were tourists here, one of the highlights of visiting Orcas Island was walking the peaceful, beautiful grounds of Orcas Island Pottery (on Old Pottery Road off West Beach Road). It was one of the places we couldn’t get our minds off of when we went back home because it’s one of the most serene, visually fulfilling places you’ll ever go, between the nature all around and sea below to the colorful pottery on outside tables and the fantastic treehouse above.
I hadn’t been there for a few years since photographing the owner and her son for my Life on Orcas Island book until the other day when a friend suggested we go and experience it on a quiet, overcast morning.

It is still as charming as ever! It’s even more beautiful than the last time I was there. If you haven’t been out there for a while, come along with me on a walk through the beauty…

Happy summering!…
