After driving down the newly designed Prune Alley today, I noticed yellow signs declaring a big rug sale at the Odd Fellows Hall. I followed them. This is what I saw:
There you will meet a kind man named Parviz who is selling off his beautiful rugs handmade in various countries.
Perhaps I was drawn to see about the rugs because of a comment someone made at my first book talk at the library. After mentioning at the talk that I didn’t want my book to have any typos in it, and the fear of the prospect of having any little bit of error held me back from doing it for a time, Ken Wrye raised his hand and said that people in other cultures actually put errors in their work because only God is meant to be perfect.
I mentioned this to Parviz and he said indeed that is what many professional, perfectionist rugmakers do. He said they are so good at what they do that there may not be an error in their work, so they make sure to put one in.
If you’ve been looking for beautiful rugs, take a moment to drive down Haven Lane and meet him. He will be there today until 7 PM and tomorrow from 9-3 PM.
