Don’t Fret is the name of Shaye Spinner and Justin Krisch-Derr’s duo, and Friday the 19th will be their second performance on the island. Come on out for it!

Shaye and I have been obsessed with music for a long time now, and we would occasionally think about what it would look like to play publicly and showcase our talent, but we never actually thought it was a realistic and very near possibility due to our intimidation and timidity. It was only mid-August when we suddenly felt invigorated to perform. I had just had a gig at the Harbor Bar and Grill playing a jazz set list with pianist and singer, Joe Sedivec, with myself on clarinet. Other than school concerts, it was my first time playing at a public setting like that. After a successful night, I felt a new sense of confidence and desire to share my music, especially through other instruments and genres. So Shaye and I got together and officially started our “band” (that being 2 people) with that new desire. We made a name for ourselves and immediately got to work playing music and coming up with a list of songs to perform. We chose from a variety of folk tunes with some bluegrass, and will be showcasing a large variety of instruments just between the two of us, including guitar, banjo, mandolin, and ukulele. We are so excited to share our passion for playing music with friends, family members, and anyone who happens to hear.
See you at the Smokehouse at 6 PM on December 19th!
