For years I’ve wanted to make a stunning costume out of junked materials for the Trashion Fashion Show here on the island. While I didn’t have time to devote to it this year, I nevertheless contacted the woman who makes it happen – Asifa Pasin. I thought that perhaps I could at least document other people making theirs.
As it turned out, she already had a lot of costumes made and not enough people to wear them. Perfect! At least I got to be a wearer, if not a designer.
The show was the final event of Orcas Center’s 1st Annual Earth Day Festival Weekend celebration, so it was at 6 PM on Easter Sunday. Based on the turnout, I have a feeling most people were enjoying Easter festivities with their families. But it was a ball anyway.

I ended up having very few pictures, but perhaps you’ll see us in the Solstice Parade this year. You might have a second chance to create a costume and don it down our main street! Start making it now…
Thank you, Asifa, for your welcoming demeanor and your creative and intricate costumes. What fun!
