I’m a daily walker. I like to cover a good distance and take it all in.
But our dog is quirky. She doesn’t like to walk in certain places. She stops. It’s gotten to the point that I have to carry her for half of my walk until she goes along with the program. Or leave her at home, which is hard on my conscience.
After walking in and around town for the past seven years, I’ve recently decided to head to the Turtleback North Trail each morning for the solitude and deep thinking time along the unending uphill. My dog loves it too, so we’re both ecstatic about the new freedom of movement we have.
The boys and I set out for a photographic hike on Saturday to capture both the expansive and the minute winter beauty along the trail before attending a full weekend of events including The Lum Farm Winter Festival, the Community Band Holiday Concert, roller skating night at the public school, and the Radiance choir concert at the Community Church. We had no steam left for the Episcopal Church’s Festival of Lessons and Carols.
Enjoy the forest sights that evoke a deep sense of quiet and stillness…
