Jay Longfellow’s Accident ~ Please Donate to his GoFundMe

Back in February, I posted an article about interviewing hunter, trapper, and outdoorsman Jay Longfellow.

Jay had a major accident recently, and his sister Kate has set up a GoFundMe:

Friends and family (all those in between):

My brother Jay sustained a life-changing injury just days after celebrating his 54th birthday.

Jay’s fall has left him paralyzed (technically triplegia due to the limited use of his left arm and hand)

After spending 11 weeks at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle he has transferred to a skilled nursing facility in Bellingham. While he continues to work hard to regain independence there are several key medical devices needed to ensure not only basic health/hygiene but also vital to providing quality of life.

As many of you know insurance does not necessarily cover quality-of-life equipment and accommodations.

He is reaching out asking for assistance in obtaining key medical devices to assist as he adjusts to the limits his “new” body.

These items are transfer devices (used in moving him from bed-chair-toliet). And as you know he has already missed out on a season of hunting and fishing. He is hoping to have the funds to acquire a Track Chair. This will not only give him more independence to hunt and fish but has a standing feature that is imperative to his long-term recovery.

Please consider giving financial support, but know that any support is welcome. It takes a village… and we need our village.

And know that Jay’s beloved dog, Marcus Aurelius, is living with a canine-loving couple here on the island.

Thank you for helping!!!
