Listen to Season One’s 60 Life on Orcas Island Interviews on Spotify

Thanks to someone pointing out that only 13 of my 60 radio/podcast interviews were on Spotify – thank you Phil Klein!! – I did some sleuthing with the help of ChatGPT and realized that Spotify only allows mp3 files, while 47 of my interviews were m4a files. I changed those 47 interviews to mp3 files and they have now all successfully transferred onto Spotify. The only drawback is that each interview’s individual statistics drop to zero, appearing as though none of them have been heard yet. But that is the lesser of the issues. I’m just glad they are all now residing on the Spotify app. So if you, too, were wondering why you couldn’t find the shows on Spotify, that’s why!

Overall statistics are not lost!… Here are some fun facts…

  • In total, the show’s 60 interviews have been downloaded over 4,500 times!
  • Of those 4,500+ downloads, people in the US have downloaded the show 3,834 times, accounting for 85% of the world’s listenership
  • Below are some graphs of the top 10 countries that have downloaded the show and the top 10 states in the US, and what you can’t see from these screen shots is that the episodes have also been downloaded by people in Morocco, Iraq, Bolivia, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Greece, Kazakstan, Paraguay, Botswana, Lebanon, the Syrian Arab Republic, and more

Those 60 episodes round out Season 1 of Life on Orcas Island with Edee Kulper. I began the show at the beginning of last November with an interview with kind, humble, cycle breaker Andy Lynn, who describes how his life growing up was like a Stephen King novel, and the 60th interview just aired the other day with 9-year-old phenom Coral Miller who sailed around the world for 2 years and climbed to Everest Base Camp with her family.

And the show keeps going strong each week, one interview on Tuesday mornings and one on Sunday afternoons!…

Thank you immensely to Allen Hartle, the KIXP station founder, manager, and technical guru. Thank you to everyone who has allowed me to interview them so far. And thank you to everyone who has listened to the show. I always wanted to be an interviewer – I even laughingly used to say that while I didn’t want to set up a podcast at my kitchen table (especially while being a very busy homeschooling mom), if someone somehow happened to start a station on the island, I’d love to be part of it. What are the odds???!!! Just goes to show that if you have a dream, no matter how improbable it seems, just keep it alive in you because the fact that you even have that dream might be proof that it is meant to happen…
